No fewer than 15 terrorists have fallen to their deaths in the hands of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) during the air strike on Monday in Kaduna.
The elimination took place along the Kwiga-Kampamin Doka axis in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The operation was prompted by actionable intelligence regarding the terrorists' movements in the area.
The NAF Spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, revealed this development in a statement issued on Monday, January 29.
In the revelation, he stated that the same terrorist syndicate had been responsible for the ambush on troops at Kwanan Mutuwa on January 27, as well as other attacks and abductions of innocent civilians in Birnin Gwari.
The NAF spokesperson gave a full detail on the sequence of events, stating that upon reaching the suspected location, a meticulous scan uncovered a convoy of about 15 motorcycles, each carrying at least two armed terrorists. In response, the terrorists were tracked to a convergence point before being engaged and neutralized in a precision strike.
Gabkwet stated, "The aftermath of the air strike revealed that several of the terrorists were eliminated as a result of the strike."
He further mentioned that the successful strike drew the attention of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, who commended the Component Commander while emphasizing the need for sustained efforts in countering terrorism.
The swift and targeted response by the Nigerian Air Force underscores its commitment to addressing security challenges and neutralizing threats posed by terrorist elements in the region.
