The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be fully configured on Tuesday, March 14, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
No BVAS machine will be reconfigured without the data being transferred to the "accreditation backend," according to Festus Okoye, INEC national commissioner, who appeared for an interview on Channels Television on Sunday, March 12.
Moreover, Okoye stated that the commission has learned from the difficulties the BVAS machines presented during the presidential elections.
He stated:
"Almost 170,000 of those results have been uploaded as of my most recent check.
"As you are aware, the BVAS is being reconfigured for the governorship and state assembly elections. Any BVAS that was used for the presidential and national assembly elections and does not push to the accreditation backend will not have its data related to the conduct of those elections reconfigured.
"In fact, if all of the data is not pushed to the accreditation backend, the BVAS won't permit itself to be changed or reset
The results in every location where polls were held would have been pushed to the accreditation backend by Tuesday, when we hope to finish resettling the BVAS for the purposes of the gubernatorial and state assembly elections.
