A Nigerian yoga instructor, Anjola Olupitan, has been certified by Guinness World Records (GWR) as the new record holder for the fastest 10-meter hand walk.
According to a post on the microblogging site X, Olupitan achieved this feat by walking on his hands with his legs behind his head for 12.52 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 25.55 seconds set by Bonetics Art in 2023.
In a social media post, Olupitan expressed his joy at becoming the first-ever GWR holder in Ibadan and thanked his supporters, including Oyo state’s executive adviser on youth and sports.
He stated, "Dreams do come true! Thrilled to officially announce that I’m the Guinness World Record holder for the fastest 10m walk on hands with legs behind the head (12.52 seconds) surpassing the previous record by 13 seconds.
Not only that but I’m also the first ever Guinness world record holder in Ibadan, Oyo state. This is not just a personal victory but a momentous occasion for Oyo as well."
Olupitan also expressed gratitude to his family, mentor, team, friends, colleagues, clients, and the executive adviser to the governor on youth and sports, Oyo, Seun Fakorede, for their unwavering support.
The record-breaking attempt took place on February 24 at the Lekan Salami Stadium tennis court in Ibadan, Oyo state.
