Governor of Bauchi State Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed took the oath of office and loyalty on Monday for a second four-year term, saying that his election was not based on qualifications but rather a divine mandate.
At the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, the state capital, Mohammed and his deputy, Muhammad Auwal Jatau, took the oaths of office and allegiance as delivered by Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, the state's chief judge.
The governor said in front of the enormous throng that gathered to witness the beginning of his second term, "I accept this call to serve, not because I see myself as the most qualified, but because it is a divine mandate over which I have no choice."
