Kidnappers has once again infiltrated the Nigeria Post Army estate in Abuja, resulting in the abduction of two individuals. The Phase 2 area of the estate became a scene of chaos around 10:00 p.m. Thursday night as the assailants, targeting the residence of Barrister Cyril Adikwu, seized his wife and one of his in-laws.
Austine John, a neighbor to the victim, recounted the chilling events, stating that the kidnappers forcefully entered the barrister's home, initiating the attack with gunfire. While the barrister managed to escape, his wife and in-law were taken captive.
"At about 10:00, we suddenly started hearing gunshots, and immediately we knew something was wrong. I quickly went out to make sure my gate was well locked. Then we heard the gunshot in the barrister’s house, and then we alerted the estate’s management, who immediately swung into action. In a short time, army personnel came around and started shooting too, but before they arrived, the kidnappers had taken the wife and one of the in-laws of the barrister."
The unsettling nature of the incident left residents on edge throughout the night, fearing a potential return of the kidnappers. Austine John, echoing the sentiments of many, called on President Tinubu to intervene and bring an end to the disturbing trend of kidnappings plaguing the nation.
The plea underscores the urgency for decisive action against the perpetrators, as communities grapple with the pervasive threat of such heinous acts.
The public is puzzled by the kidnapping menace hitting the capital of the nation and doubts set in as to the security of all.
