The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged the general public to dismiss rumors that the congress would begin protest action on Friday, June 2, in opposition to the increase in the price of fuel at the pump.
According to a statement made by Benson Upah, the NLC's head of information and public affairs, even though organized labor is furious over the rise in gasoline prices that would cause everyday Nigerians immense pain, the union has no plans to begin any action tomorrow.
According to the statement, the congress would only meet tomorrow to examine the problem and choose the best course of action. It also promised to keep Nigerians informed of the outcome.
Many people consider the federal government's decision to increase the price of petrol at the pump as being overly anti-masses, and this has led to more criticism of the measure.
The federal government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, believed that the nation will benefit from the complete elimination of the fuel subsidy.
