Karen Igho, the winner of Big Brother Africa 2011, has established a $50,000 GoFundMe campaign to help pay for accommodation and legal bills while she fights for custody of her children.
Karen Igho revealed in a video posted on Wednesday through her social media channels that she was currently homeless and in dire need of assistance.
She indicated a wish to regain custody of her children from her estranged husband, Yaroslav Rakos.
The GoFundMe campaign description reads in part: "Dear friends and community, we are asking for your support for our dear Karen Igho, who is going through a tough time.
"Recently, she faced unexpected challenges that have made it difficult to pay bills and secure stable housing.”
This plea came after Karen revealed on Tuesday that she was going through a divorce and accusing her husband of physical and sexual abuse.
She said that Rakos was seeking to gain sole custody of their children by falsely alleging that she was mentally unwell.
Karen also urged the people to hold Rakos responsible if anything happened to her.
Karen Igho said: “I have been homeless for a year, and I have been hurt sexually and physically. If anything happens to me, hold the man who brought me to a country where I know no one. He is trying to take my children away by saying I’m mentally sick.”
