Youths Block Lagos Highway, Burn Tyres To Protest Colleague's Killing

POSTED ON December 1, 2023 •   Uncategorized      BY Segun Adewole •   VIEWS 75
Chaos and tension gripped the Mile 2 vicinity of Lagos State on Tuesday as angry youths took to the streets, setting up roadblocks and burning tyres following the tragic killing of an individual. While the circumstances surrounding the victim's death remain unclear, the incident has sparked outrage and prompted swift responses from both the public and law enforcement. A user on X social media platform, @Gidi_Traffic, initially reported that the victim had been killed by the Lagos State Task Force. However, the Lagos State Police Command's Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, responded, stating, "That claim cannot be confirmed yet. Information is still sketchy." SP Hundeyin continued, "However, I can confirm that police patrol teams have arrived at the scene, obstacles are being cleared, and the free flow of traffic is gradually resuming. Further updates will follow." The uncertainty surrounding the circumstances of the incident has left the community on edge, with residents seeking answers and accountability. A video trending on social media showed youths burning tires and setting up barricade to disrupt the free flow of traffic as a form of protest against the killing. As authorities work to investigate and provide clarity on the situation, the tense atmosphere underscores the need for a thorough and transparent inquiry to determine the cause of the tragic incident and prevent any further escalation of tensions in the area.
