Yoruba youth reaffirm commitment to self-determination, cultural revitalisation

Nigeria – In a significant gathering held on Saturday, the Yoruba Nation Youth come together to reaffirm their unwavering commitment to self-determination and cultural revitalisation. 

The event, which took place via zoom space, attracted numbers of young leaders, activists, and supporters from various regions.

The Yoruba Nation Youth, composed of determined members both in the homeland and across the diaspora, yawning at reinforcing their commitment to self-determination and cultural heritage.

The leaders of the vibrant community addressed the audience with a passionate view of their mission, values, achievements, and future plans.

In an inspirational speech, the Yoruba National Youth leader in all diaspora, Prophet Ayodele Ologunloluwa  emphasised collective commitment to achieving the sovereignty of the Yoruba people and preserving the rich culture.

"Our mission is clear: to achieve the self-determination of the Yoruba people, the sovereignty of our ancestral land, and to promote the Yoruba culture and image," he  stated.

Comrade Ayodele reiterated the importance of unity, integrity, resilience, and cultural pride, positioning the youth as the custodians of their heritage and architects of the future.

As testament to the group progress, Comrade Ayodele stress that the past ten months have seen significant achievements, stating that the community has laid the groundwork for a robust membership database that facilitates proper representation and developmental planning, with members receiving social security numbers for identification purposes.

He said the community has also raised global awareness through numerous rallies and town hall meetings, engaging with over 30 international leaders to broadcast the cause of Yoruba self-determination.

He outlined ambitious plans that include scaling agricultural efforts with advanced technologies, establishing tech hubs throughout Yoruba territories, and launching mentorship programs to develop the next generation of Yoruba leaders.

He said a global advocacy network is also in the pipeline, aiming to secure international support for the Yoruba Nation Youth self-determination efforts.

He note that engaging with traditional rulers has led to a growing consensus among the Yoruba rulers to support initiatives beneficial to the Yoruba people.

The Head of Technical Yoruba Nation Youth, Engr. Lameed Yagboyaju while speaking said the successful youth empowerment initiatives have emerged, such as a pilot agricultural program that secures farmlands, demonstrating the potential for sustainable livelihoods.

He stated that the incorporation of advanced technology training in IT and drone operations is further equipping the youth with essential skills for a competitive edge in the global economy.

Engr. Lameed point that cultural revitalization remains a priority, with festivals and educational initiatives aimed at preserving language and traditions, fostering pride among Yoruba youth both at home and abroad.

He  made a powerful call to action which resonate throughout the assembly, urging every member of the Yoruba community to contribute their skills, resources, and energy towards achieving the vision.

“You are the heartbeat of this movement,” he proclaimed, emphasising the crucial role the youth play in shaping the future.

Elders and allies such as Prof. Banji Akintoye, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo (Igboho) were also called upon to lend their wisdom and experience as the journey toward self-determination continues.

The leaders of the community concluded with a stirring message: “Together, we will achieve the self-determination of the Yoruba people and land. Together, we will build a nation that embodies the values of an Omoluabi and aspirations of our ancestors.”

In attendance are assistant national youth leader in All Dispora and United Arab Emirates chapter coordinator, Comrade Adeniyi Omoboriowo, Yoruba world media president, Dr. Zaby, Home base chairman, comrade Olaoluwa Odeniyi, Comrade Olayomi Koiki, Homeland youth leader, Comrade Oyegunle Oluwamayowa Omotoyole OMAYOR and all countries coordinators.

The gathering serves as both a celebration of past achievements and a rallying point for continued action, marking a pivotal step in the quest for a prosperous and sovereign Yoruba Nation.
