X, formerly known as Twitter, is gearing up to introduce a dedicated TV app for videos uploaded to the social network, according to an announcement made by X CEO Linda Yaccarino on Tuesday.

The forthcoming app aims to deliver "real-time, engaging content to your smart TVs," echoing the growing trend of multimedia consumption across various platforms.

In a teaser video shared by Yaccarino, the app's interface bears a striking resemblance to that of YouTube, hinting at a familiar user experience.

Among its key features, the app will incorporate a trending video algorithm to curate tailored popular content, complemented by AI-powered topics that categorize videos by subject matter.

Additionally, users can seamlessly transition from watching videos on their phones to viewing them on their TV screens, thanks to cross-device viewing support.

Yaccarino has assured that the app will boast enhanced video search capabilities and will be compatible with "most smart TVs."

Although an official launch date has not been disclosed, she promises that the app will be available "soon."

The impending app rollout aligns with Yaccarino's vision to position the social media site as a "video first" platform, emphasizing free speech and multimedia content.

Presently, the platform features original shows hosted by notable figures such as former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and former Fox Sports host Jim Rome.

Notably, a talk show deal involving former CNN anchor Don Lemon was canceled by X CEO Elon Musk after Lemon's appearance on the inaugural episode of the show.

The announcement follows closely on the heels of Truth Social, the social media platform owned by Donald Trump's media company, unveiling its plans to launch a live TV streaming platform.

Touted to focus on "news networks," "religious channels," and "content that has been canceled" or "is being suppressed on other platforms and services," Truth Social's initiative underscores the evolving landscape of digital content distribution and consumption.
