World Club Rankings: Manchester City Ahead Of Real Madrid; Chelsea Missing In Top 50

European champions Manchester City have been ranked the best football team, according to the latest world club rankings.

The Etihad Stadium outfit are ahead of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in second and third positions, respectively. Having occupied the first position for several years, Los Blancos dropped to third, while in fourth position are Napoli, who moved up eight places; Inter Milan complete the top five. Napoli took the Italian Serie A by storm last season, winning the Scudetto for the first time in more than three decades, with Nigerian international Victor Osimhen scoring 26 league goals during the campaign. Meanwhile, Liverpool, Arsenal, FC Porto, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are other teams completing the top ten in that order. Manchester United are 17th, while Chelsea are ranked in the 74th position, as per Football Database. On the African continent, Nigerian champions Enyimba are ranked 504 in the world, becoming the number one club from the West African nation. Akwa United joined Enyimba on the log as they are ranked 556 in the world with 1426 points, while Remo Stars ranked third in Nigeria and 747 in the world. Four-time NPFL champions Kano Pillars joined the ranking as they are ranked 728 worldwide. In Asia, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr is the 163rd best team in the world, while Lionel Messi-captained US club Inter Miami are lowly ranked in 1538th position. This comes despite that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner added another chapter to his remarkable career when he led his new team to their first title in club history with a penalty shootout victory over Nashville SC in the Leagues Cup final. The Argentine legend struck a spectacular free kick in the 87th minute to cancel out Sam Surridge’s opener and send the game to penalty kicks, where he later scored the game-winning goal to give his MLS team the victory.
