woman, Nnaemaka Nwosu has been accused of killing a policewoman and her two children in a fire she ignited.
Nwosu allegedly committed the crime on Sunday in the Nnokwa community, located in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state, PUNCH reports.
According to reliable sources in the community, the suspect had found herself in a dire situation after being divorced by her husband, leaving her homeless and desperately in need of accommodation.
In her time of need, she sought help from the policewoman, who kindly offered her a place to stay in her apartment.
However, things took a dark turn when an altercation between the suspect and the policewoman escalated into a violent fight.
The suspect allegedly struck the policewoman with a pestle, causing her to lose consciousness. In a horrifying act of cruelty, the suspect then tied the policewoman and her two innocent children together with a rope inside their room and set them ablaze along with the building they were in.
The incident quickly drew the attention of local vigilantes and villagers, who rushed to the scene upon seeing the flames. They managed to apprehend the suspect as she tried to flee the area.
At first, the suspect attempted to deceive authorities by claiming that a gas cylinder had exploded while the woman and her children were boiling hot water. However, she later confessed to committing the heinous act and provided chilling details of how she executed the crime.
The Anambra State Police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the shocking incident and announced that the suspect had been taken into custody. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further investigation.
As the community grapples with the horrific loss of the policewoman and her two children, their bodies have been moved to the morgue. The motive behind the suspect's actions remains under investigation, and authorities are determined to ensure that justice is served for the victims and their grieving loved ones.
