Grammy-winning musician Wizkid has set a Spotify record for the most streamed music in a single day with his latest track, 'Piece of My Heart', featuring Brent Faiyaz.
His latest release became the first to receive 1 million streams in a single day.
This achievement enabled Nigeria to become the 22nd country with over 1 million streams per day.
Globally, the song made its debut at number 90 on the Spotify Chart with 1.7 million streams and received 2.27 million streams on its first day of availability.
"Piece of My Heart" became the largest streaming debut for an African artiste on Spotify, beating Wizkid's previous record with 'MMS' featuring Asake, which had 870,577 streams on its first day.
Wizkid's music has earned several achievements, including the Grammy Award for Best Music Video as a lead artiste on Beyoncé's 'Brown Skin Girl', his first-ever Grammy Award.
He is the most awarded African artiste at the American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Soul Train Awards, Billboard Awards and iHeartRadio Music Awards, while also tying for the most at BET Awards, MOBO Awards.
He is also a recipient of an ASCAP plaque for his songwriting contributions to Drake's 'One Dance', which also earned two Guinness World Records, for being the first song to reach a billion streams on Spotify, and at the time being the most streamed song on Spotify.
Wizkid was cited as one of the Top 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine in 2019.
He is also the most awarded artiste in The Headies award history. He was nominated in the Best Global Music Album and the Best Global Music Performance categories in the 64th Annual Grammy Awards for Made in Lagos Deluxe Edition and 'Essence' respectively.
In November 2021, Apple Music Awards announced him as the winner of Artiste of the Year (Africa).
