Nigerian international William Troost-Ekong has clinched the 2023-2024 Greek Super League title with PAOK FC.
The victory was sealed on Sunday night when PAOK secured a hard-fought 2-1 away win over Aris, securing their fourth league championship with a total of 80 points from 36 matches, narrowly edging out rivals AEK Athens by two points.
In the decisive match, Brandon Thomas put PAOK ahead on the hour mark, but Aris quickly equalized through Loren Moron just two minutes into the second half.
The crucial winning goal came from Taison in the 62nd minute, igniting celebrations among PAOK supporters.
Although Troost-Ekong was not included in the matchday squad by manager Razvan Lucescu, the 30-year-old centre-back played a significant role throughout the season, making 10 league appearances for the team before undergoing surgery following the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in February.
Troost-Ekong, who has recently returned to full training, expressed his elation on social media, writing, "CHAMPIONS OF GREECE" on X.
Having joined PAOK in 2023, Troost-Ekong has proven to be a dependable centre-back for both the club and the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles.
