Kingsley Chinda, a strong supporter of former Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has secured the position of Minority Leader in the House of Representatives.
The Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, announced on Tuesday during the resumption of plenary, revealing the lineup of principal officers in the House.
This development marks a significant turn of events for Chinda, who was initially nominated as the Minority Leader in 2019.
However, then-Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila appointed Ndudi Elumelu to the position instead.
Chinda's pivotal role in Abbas's election as Speaker appears to have played a key part in his subsequent ascension to the Minority Leader position.
In other news, Julius Ihonvbere, a close associate of Adams Oshiomhole, has emerged as the Majority Leader of the House.
Additionally, Abdullahi Halims, who represents Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro constituency in Kogi State, has been appointed as the new deputy majority leader.
To support Chinda in his role, Ali Madaki of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has been selected as his deputy, providing a diverse and inclusive representation within the minority leadership team.
