Gary Neville, a former defender for Manchester United, asserted that Arsenal’s “desperate” celebrations following their 4-2 victory over Aston Villa might have lost them the Premier League championship.
With a game still to play, Arsenal lead Manchester City by two points at the top of the standings.
Nevertheless, their chances of winning the title appeared to be in trouble at the beginning of February when they lost three straight games, allowing City to reclaim the top spot.
However, Mikel Arteta’s team took back the top spot on February 18 by defeating Villa.
At Villa Park, with the score tied at 2-2, Arsenal scored twice in extra time to win the game.
According to Neville, it’s too early and too emotional for Arsenal.
“It’s not a healthy thing to be so desperate and to celebrate that much with half the race yet to go.
I can see how significant the Aston Villa victory was, but the level of celebration was premature and extremely desperate.
