WhatsApp is streamlining the way users in India send and receive money through its platform with a new feature currently rolling out to beta testers.
The update, available in version 2.24.7.3 of the WhatsApp beta for Android, allows users to scan UPI QR codes directly from their chat list.
Previously, users had to navigate through multiple screens to scan a UPI QR code to initiate a payment within WhatsApp.
This new feature eliminates those unnecessary steps, making the payment process faster and more intuitive.

"This process not only saves time but also enhances the overall user experience."
This update aligns perfectly with India's growing adoption of digital payments. UPI, or Unified Payments Interface, is a popular method for instant money transfers between bank accounts.
By integrating UPI QR code scanning directly within the chat interface, WhatsApp is making it easier for users to leverage this convenient payment method without ever leaving their conversations.
The new feature is currently rolling out to a limited number of beta testers on Android.
WABetaInfo expects it to reach a wider audience in the coming days. It's important to note that not all beta testers on version 2.24.7.3 may have access to the feature yet.
For those eager to try out the new in-chat UPI QR code scanning, enrolling in the WhatsApp beta program for Android is an option.
