ABUJA, NIgeria- The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has forecasted hazy weather conditions from Saturday to Monday across the nation.

The agency expects a horizontal visibility range of 2 km to 5 km in parts of Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger, and Kogi states.

It noted that the remainder of the North, the North Central region, and the inland cities of the South are likely to experience slight dust haze with good visibility throughout the forecast period.

NiMet also mentioned that a hazy atmosphere with some cloud patches is anticipated over the coastal regions of the South, with possibilities of afternoon or evening rains in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos states.

On Sunday, moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2 km to 5 km is expected in parts of Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, and Kaduna states.

The rest of the North, the North Central region, and inland cities of the South are also forecasted to experience slight dust haze with good visibility throughout the period.

NiMet predicted early morning mist or fog over the coastal areas of the South, with the rest of the day likely to feature a hazy atmosphere with some cloud patches.

For Monday, moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2 km to 5 km is expected over the North and North Central regions throughout the forecast period. Inland cities of the South are anticipated to experience slight dust haze with good visibility, while coastal cities in the South may see a few cloud patches in a hazy atmosphere, along with the possibility of early morning mist or fog.

The agency warned that dust particles are suspended in the air and advised the public to take necessary precautions.

NiMet urged the public to follow safety advisories from relevant authorities and recommended that airline operators obtain airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from its office for effective operational planning.
