President Bola Tinubu has expressed that the ruling All Progressives Congress is open to welcoming Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, should he choose to join the party.
Tinubu extended this invitation during the inauguration of the Arterial Road N16 to Arterial Road N20 and several other roads in the Katampe District on Wednesday.
He acknowledged that the Minister isn't currently affiliated with the APC but praised the FCT Administration for their collaborative effort in executing the project. "We have someone in Nyesom Wike.
He’s not a part of our party, not yet. But when he decides to join and registers with the progressives, we will embrace him. Because we’ll sing together, ‘as e dey pain them, e dey sweet us’,” the President remarked.
Tinubu emphasized that the project demonstrates his administration’s dedication to transformation, highlighting their guiding philosophy of reform and regeneration.
He stated that infrastructure is essential, asserting that it cannot thrive without well-maintained roads, and reiterated his government's investment in roads, renewable energy, healthcare, education, and digital infrastructure.
“This project signifies more than just a stretch of asphalt. It showcases our commitment to urban transformation, which is part of our Renewed Hope Agenda. Since I took office in May 2023, our administration has been focused on reform and regeneration principles. Today, we have seen concrete evidence of this philosophy in action.
“Infrastructure is essential, not a luxury. It is fundamental to national competitiveness, growth, social cohesion, and economic opportunities. We understand that our nation's progress is closely tied to the quality of infrastructure, which connects people, cities, and industries. Industrialization cannot thrive without solid roads.
“We are committed to investing in roads, renewable energy, healthcare, education, and digital infrastructure. Through this coordinated and integrated development approach, we can unlock Nigeria’s full potential. I assure you, we will,” the President concluded.
