Nigerian social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, has expressed concerns about the recent #EndBadGovernance protests.
The protests, which began with a high turnout on the first day, have reportedly resulted in fierce fights and disorderly movements in critical sites throughout Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
In an Instagram post, Verydarkman encouraged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to handle the escalating crisis as soon as possible.
He advised that President Tinubu take quick steps such as lowering the petrol price to N150 to alleviate growing public dissatisfaction while looking for long-term answers to economic problems.
Verydarkman also spoke on why he chose not to attend the protest on the first day, stating that his presence could have exacerbated the disturbance.
He further recommended that the President consider declaring a state of emergency to address the demands of the protesting youths and prevent further escalation.
In his words: “The #EndBadGovernance protests have gotten out of hand. I’m scared. President Tinubu should declare a state of emergency in Nigeria and address the demands of the youths. If Day 1 of the protest is like this, then you can imagine what they’ll do next.”
