Charge d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Nigeria, David Greene, has recently emphasized the close collaboration between the United States and Nigeria in efforts to bolster security and ensure stability in West Africa. Greene made this emphasis on an interview session with Arise TV while highlighting the significance of the bilateral relationship under the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration. He underscored the mutual commitment of both nations to address security concerns, particularly in the challenging regions of the Sahel and West Africa. The US ambassador announced the United States' commitment to supporting Nigeria's police reform and capacity-building initiatives. The objective is to promote transparent justice delivery within the country. He outlined specific areas of cooperation, revealing the active engagement with Nigeria on a program aimed at reducing the number of individuals in pre-trial detention, with a focus on upholding the rights of those incarcerated in prisons and correctional facilities in Nigeria.
