One killed and nine others injured along the Sagamu Express junction of Ogun State on Sunday when a truck driver rammed into a bus.
Also, a motor assistant lost his life when a containerised truck crashed along the Odo-Gomez area of the same expressway on Sunday.
Spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the incident occured at about 9:48 am along the Remo Majestic Hotel axis, inbound Sagamu Area Express Junction, Sagamu-Benin Expressway.
Akinbiyi disclosed that the accident involved a Bus Mass Transit vehicle with number plate FFF 282 XC and an unregistered Sino truck.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that the truck was speeding when it lost control and rammed into the bus conveying 10 passengers.
He said, “The truck lost control due to speeding and rammed into the BMT bus with a devastating impact.”
He added that the injured persons were taken to Idera Hospital while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.
He further said: “After the end of the rescue exercise, more injured victims were recorded totalling nine. All the injured victims were from the bus including the dead. Regrettably, the driver and motor boy of the truck that caused the accident ran away."
Giving an update on the second accident, Akinbiyi disclosed that a motor assistant reportedly died when a containerised truck crashed along the Odo-Gomez area of the expressway.
He said, “Another fatal lone RTA involving a containerised truck inbound Sagamu Area Command Junction around 'Odo Gomez' has just occurred. The motor boy attached to the vehicle is presumed dead.
“The accident vehicles have been towed to allow for traffic flow while the presumed dead bodies have been taken to Idera morgue, and the injured to Idera Hospital respectively.”
