Two persons died and many injured in Kano on Thursday following the collapse of a two-storey building in Nomansland area of Sabon Gari, Fagge Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was said to have occurred around 2 am on Thursday, following several hours of downpour that caused flooding due to the overflow of a nearby waterway.
The public Relation Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident.
He said so far two survivors had been rescued as the rescue operation continued.
“As I am talking to you, two persons have been rescued by our personnel while the rescue operation is still ongoing,” he said.
Abdullahi said he could not ascertain the number of deaths until after the rescue operation is completed.
“We are doing everything possible to ensure that no one is left behind in this tragedy," he said.
