JOS, Nigeria (NAN)- Troops involved in Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have apprehended four individuals suspected of armed robbery in the Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau.
The media officer for the operation, Major Samson Zhakom, made this announcement in a statement on Sunday from Jos, the state capital.
He noted that the troops are working to eliminate criminal activity in the Jos metropolis and have also seized firearms and ammunition from the suspects.
"Yesterday, troops on night patrol in the Naraguta area of Jos North LGA captured two armed robbers with a pistol.
Similarly, early this morning, they arrested a well-known armed robber in the Corner Shagari community of Jos North, who was found with a pistol and five rounds of 9 mm ammunition.
Preliminary questioning led to the detention of his accomplices in the Massalachin Idi and Ali Kazaure community of Jos North.
During a search of the criminals' hideout, troops discovered another pistol with five rounds of 9 mm ammunition," he stated. Mr. Zhakom added that the suspects are providing valuable information that could assist the troops in further operations in the area.
