The Imo State Governorship Tribunal sitting in Abuja, has uphold the election of Hope Uzodinma as Imo state governor.
The victory however dismissed the petition of both the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party, challenging the election victory of Hope Uzodimma.
The three-man panel of Justices, headed by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, affirmed Uzodimma as the valid winner of the election and governor of the state.
It held that both the PDP and LP petitions lacked merit.
The panel said from its findings and submissions made, Uzodimma was qualified to contest the election.
The petitioners had claimed that the governorship election was not conducted in substantial compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
The tribunal, however, held that the petitioners failed by way of credible evidence to prove their allegation.
Recall that INEC had announced that Uzodimma, who ran for the governorship seat under the All Progressive Congress, scored a total of 540,308, defeating Senator Samuel Anyanwu of the PDP, who came second position with 71,503 votes and the LP candidate, Athan Achonu, who came third with 64,081 votes.
