Tragic Loss in Nollywood: Pat Ugwu passes away at 35

Renowned Nollywood actress, Pat Ugwu, has sadly passed away at the age of 35, just four years after her father's funeral.

The specific reason for her death was not instantly revealed, but Rocketparrot News learnt she died following a brief illness and will be laid to rest on Friday, February 7, 2025. 

Her demise was announced on Wednesday by actor Emeka Okoye, who shared a brief statement through his official social media account. Okoye expressed his shock at the news, lamenting that her passing has robbed him of future opportunities to collaborate with her in films.

He stated, “Rest in peace sis. Pat Ugwu. So we no get to work again? Death whyooo? God please. Rest in peace PAT. May your soul rest in the bosom of the Lord.”

The actor also voiced his worries about the recent wave of deaths within the entertainment sector, highlighting how the loss of actors and actresses significantly affects the country's film industry. “God please protect all my colleagues, especially those I am close to.

This unusual death is frightening. I proclaim life to everyone close to me this 2025 in the precious blood of Jesus. Amen”, he added.

Numerous Nollywood actors and actresses, such as Rita Edochie, Destiny Etiko, Nkechi Blessing, and Kevin Mike, reacted to the news, expressing their disbelief and sorrow.

Destiny Etiko exclaimed, “Jesus noooooo,” while Kevin Mike voiced his shock, saying, “Chai, just woke up this morning to hear the death of one of our crew and casts Pat Ugwu. Rest in peace dear.”
