Kwara State University's Deputy Bursar, Alhaji Ayuba Abdullahi, former Delta State lawmaker Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, and an unnamed NYSC member serving in Adamawa State.
Deputy Bursar Collapses at Home After Watching AFCON Match
Abdullahi reportedly watched the entire match at a sports centre before feeling unwell.
He left for home complaining of dizziness, but his blood pressure had risen significantly.
He collapsed shortly after arriving home and passed away at the hospital.
Ex-Lawmaker Suffers Heart Attack:
Dr. Ojougboh, a former member of the House of Representatives, was watching the game at home when he reportedly shouted and slumped immediately after South Africa scored a penalty kick.
He suffered a massive heart attack and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
NYSC Member Faints During AFCON Semi-Finals Penalty Shootout:
Identified only as Samuel from Kaduna State, the NYSC member serving in Adamawa reportedly expressed discomfort with watching the penalty shootout.
He bowed his head and collapsed suddenly. He was declared dead when he got to the hospital.
Investigations:
As of press time, an investigation is still ongoing about the cause of the trio's death, following their death while watching AFCON.
The university and Ojougboh's family will release further information in the coming days.
The NYSC is also investigating the circumstances surrounding the corps member's death.
