The presidency has dismissed concerns about a potential leadership vacuum in the country, reassuring the public that both President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima are fully engaged in national governance despite being out of the country.
Recalls that President Tinubu is currently on a two-week working vacation, during which he continues to issue directives and handle state matters remotely.
Similarly, Vice President Shettima on Wednesday, jetted out to Sweden for official engagements to strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Sweden.
In a press statement released by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the Presidency emphasized that the absence of the two top leaders has not affected the smooth operation of the government.
The Senate President, Ministers, Service Chiefs, and other key government officials remain in their respective positions, ensuring the continuity of governance.
Previous instances, such as the Buhari administration and earlier this year, when both leaders were out of the country were cited to establish the statement.
The statement affirmed that there is no constitutional requirement for their physical presence to ensure the nation’s affairs run smoothly.
