ABUJA, Nigeria - President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja late Saturday following official trips to Saint Lucia and Brazil. His plane touched down at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 1:30 a.m. (Sunday).
He was welcomed by senior government officials, including the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu, and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
Also present at the airport were National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Ibrahim Masari, and Aliyu Wamakko. Mr. Tinubu had departed Abuja on June 28 for diplomatic engagements in the Caribbean and South America.
His first destination was Saint Lucia, with the goal of strengthening relationships with Caribbean countries and enhancing South-South cooperation.
From there, Mr. Tinubu traveled to Brazil to participate in the 2025 BRICS Summit, held on July 6-7.
During the event, he engaged in bilateral discussions with Brazilian President Lula da Silva, focusing on expanding trade, infrastructure financing, and promoting deeper cultural connections.
