President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commended the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, during the inauguration of the N10 billion Iko-Atabrikang-Opolom-IwuoAchang Road project, which includes the 600-meter Ibeno Bridge, at Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
In his remarks during the commissioning ceremony, President Tinubu, represented by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, hailed the significant milestone of the project in the development of the Niger Delta region.
He expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in the region and praised the Minister of Niger Delta Development and the NDDC for their dedication to completing the impactful road and bridge project.
President Tinubu also acknowledged the Governor of Akwa Ibom State for his contribution to the achievement, emphasizing that this project signifies a step forward in Nigeria's infrastructure development.
He commended the NDDC Board and Management for their focus on delivering projects that benefit the people of the Niger Delta region, citing other recently completed projects such as the Ogbia-Emakalakala-Akipelai-Etiama-Nembe Road in Bayelsa State and the 132KV Transmission Line and I32KV/33KV electricity substation at Ode-Erinje in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
President Tinubu expressed his satisfaction with the NDDC's performance despite the challenges faced in developing the Niger Delta region, stating that their projects have positively impacted the lives of the people.
He also praised the current leadership of the NDDC for their efforts.
The Minister for Niger Delta Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, also highlighted that the project was a positive response to the performance bond endorsed by the Ministry and the NDDC.
He noted the presence of the Senate President and other members of the National Assembly at the commissioning ceremony.
