The Nigerian Governors Forum is currently being hosted by President Bola Tinubu in the Presidential Villa.
Along with the returning governors, the meeting also includes the new governors who were voted for in their respective states.
The meeting got started at noon just after Senator George Akume was sworn in by Tinubu as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The swearing-in ceremony was hastily conducted on Wednesday in the council room of the Presidential Villa.
In front of representatives from the executive branch, Akume took the oaths of office and allegiance.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, and the spouse of the new SGF Mrs. Regina Akume were all in attendance for the swearing-in.
Since then, Akume gradually settled into his new position as SGF, and Tinubu is currently holding meetings with the 36 state governors on behalf of the Nigerian Governors Forum.
