President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday missed his step and fell during Democracy Day celebration in Abuja.

In a swift move, the presidency, issued a statement saying, no cause for alarm as the president immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds.

However, despite the slip, the President quickly regained his balance and continued with the proceedings with the help of his security aides.

A video circulating on social media showed that the president missed his step and fell while walking into a vehicle that would convey him for a parade at Eagle Square.

Tinubu, who wore a white native attire popularly known as agbada and his signature cap, struggled to save himself by holding on to the vehicle, but landed on the ground while his aides rushed to support him back to his feet.

Reacting to the development, Dada Olusegun, a special assistant to the president on social media, said, “Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”

However, some Nigerians took to their social media to mock the President over the incident, while others downplayed it.
