President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially enacted the legislation that creates the Federal University of Environmental Technology in Ogoni, Rivers State.
The president made this announcement on Monday following a signing ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. “I have signed into law the bill that establishes the Federal University of Environmental Technology,” Tinubu stated. “Ogoni has been at the forefront of our development and advocacy and has endured environmental degradation.”
Following the signing ceremony, the president remarked that this institution signifies a “significant milestone in our national journey towards environmental justice, education, and sustainable development.”
“By enacting this bill, we are making a decisive move to address historical grievances while creating new avenues for learning, growth, and prosperity.
The university will act as a center of excellence, empowering young Nigerians with the knowledge and skills to confront current environmental challenges, promote clean energy solutions, and contribute to our nation’s sustainable economic development,” Tinubu added.
He emphasized that the formation of the university illustrates his administration’s dedication to the Ogoni people, the Niger Delta region, and the entire country.
The president expressed gratitude to the National Assembly and other stakeholders for making the bill a success.
Tinubu urged “traditional institutions, the academic community, the private sector, and youth to embrace this university as a beacon of knowledge, unity, and progress.”
