President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, approved the conferment of post-houmous national honour for the 17 soldiers who were killed while on a peacekeeping mission in Delta State.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed this in a statement.
He said that the President made the pronouncement while breaking the Ramadan fast with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and the House leadership.
The President expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the bereaved and pledged that the sacrifices of the fallen heroes would never be in vain.
He announced that the officers would be given a befitting burial and national honours.
”In responding to distress calls, they met the end of their lives savagely. Let us work to sympathise and symbolise the fact that they are worth the sacrifices they have made for Nigeria.
