The Plateau State Police Command has tracked down and detained the suspected creator of an inciting TikTok video which went viral on social media and incited violence in relation to the upcoming nationwide demonstration.
The command's spokesperson, ASP Alfred Alabo, said in a statement that the video from the TikTok account known as "Dam-Mallam68" caught the command's attention on July 27.
Alabo claimed that as part of the protest preparations, the suspect in the film could be seen adamantly encouraging the populace to assault security personnel and set fire to important public and private assets in Plateau State.
He said that based on the strength of the information, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, ordered the source of the video to be traced and arrested.
‘’Consequently, on 28/07/2024 around 11:30 AM, one Suleiman Yakubu (male, aged 34) of Jos North, Plateau State, who appeared in the viral video was picked at Ahmadu Bello Way, Jos through an impeccable informant.
"While in our custody, the suspect confessed to being the one in the scatheful video. Meanwhile, the investigation is still ongoing.''
