Three Killed In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Truck Crash

POSTED ON February 17, 2024 •   Metro      BY Samuel O . Adeniyi

Three people tragically lost their lives in an early morning accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Mowe on Saturday.

The incident involved a container falling off a truck and crushing the occupants of another vehicle.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident occurred around 1:07 AM and involved two trucks.

A container fell from a truck with license plate T-1563LA, landing on a Howo truck with no visible registration plate.

Three male adults in the Howo truck, including the driver, were fatally injured by the fallen container.

The FRSC rescue team attempted to save the victims, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The deceased were transported to the Idera Morgue in Sagamu.

Authorities attributed the accident to dangerous driving and loss of control of the truck carrying the container. A tow truck and crane were called in to clear the wreckage and ease traffic flow.

The FRSC urged motorists to exercise caution and defensive driving practices, considering the safety of themselves and other road users.

They emphasized the importance of anticipating the actions of others, avoiding dangerous manoeuvres, and strictly adhering to traffic regulations.

This tragic incident highlights the importance of responsible driving behaviour and highlights the need for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations on Nigerian highways.

The FRSC urged motorists to prioritize defensive driving, consider other road users, anticipate their actions, and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent similar accidents.

They emphasized the importance of anticipating the actions of others, avoiding dangerous maneuvers, and strictly adhering to traffic regulations.
