No fewer than three persons have been recovered dead and others hospitalised after a building collapsed on Wilson Mbah Street, Maryland, Lagos.
According to an eyewitness account, the incident occurred at about 3:58am on Thursday.
Men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) are currently at the scene of the incident for rescue operations.
It was discovered that a set of three terraces under construction had collapsed.
Speaking about the incident, Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, said search and rescue operations began immediately.
Oke-Osanyitolu confirmed, “Three adult males were recovered dead, two male adults were rescued alive, and one adult male trapped under the rubble was rescued alive by the LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire service.
“All the six men were site workers. They are receiving pre-hospital care on location while SEHMU has been contacted for the remains of the 3 fatalities.”
Emergency team at the scene of the unfortunate incident, include Lagos State Rescue and Fire Service, Nigeria Police and other rescue teams.
LASEMA’S excavator has been deployed to accelerate the search and rescue operations.
