Instagram Head, Adam Mosseri announced on Wednesday that Threads is testing a new feature that allows users to automatically hide old posts.
Currently available to a limited group, the feature offers more control over user profiles on the platform.
"We're testing the option to automatically archive your old posts," Mosseri said in a Threads post. Users can choose to manually archive individual posts or set them to automatically archive after a specific time.
Those with access to the test can find the archive option by tapping the three dots in the top right corner of a post and selecting "Archive now."
This functionality mirrors the existing archive option on Instagram, allowing users to hide posts from their profiles without permanently deleting them.
Mosseri reassured users that archived content can be easily brought back to public view at any time.
He also emphasized that automatic archiving won't become the default setting on Threads. "I ran a poll... and the resounding feedback was not to make this the default, so we're gonna try it as an option," he explained.
This news comes after users on X, formerly known as Twitter, have repeatedly requested a built-in archive feature.
Many have resorted to third-party services to manage their online presence. Threads' test suggests that a similar solution might finally be on the horizon for users who desire more control over their content.
