Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G has opened up about how a controversial event with a DJ harmed his career.
In an interview with the Afrobeats Podcast, Terry G admitted the incident's negative impact on his professional evolution, citing it as a setback that hampered his artistic development.
Terry G allegedly assaulted DJ Phreez, a disciple of DJ Jimmy Jatt, during a concert in Lagos on June 5, 2016.
The incident began when DJ Phreez chose to play another artist's tune to get Terry G to end his performance.
Following Terry G's physical conflict with DJ Phreez, the DJs Association of Nigeria (DJAN) took immediate action against him, causing substantial controversy within the Nigerian music Industry.
Among these was the blacklisting of Terry G, which prevented him from receiving assistance from the DJ community for events and radio exposure.
He conveyed remorse for what he had done and underlined that he has since apologized to DJ Phreez and DJ Jimmy Jatt in an attempt to patch things up.
