Kano Pillars Football Club has announced that its Technical Adviser, Usman Abdallah, has resigned effective immediately.
In a statement released on Thursday, the club revealed that Abdallah cited personal reasons for his choice to leave the position.
The club noted that the coach communicated to management about an important opportunity that he believed could not be managed alongside his current commitments. After discussions, both parties agreed it would be in the club’s best interest for him to resign.
Abdallah was appointed just prior to the start of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season and led Kano Pillars to a 9th-place finish, accumulating 53 points from 38 matches, which was an improvement of six points over the previous season. In a voice message directed at supporters, Abdallah expressed his gratitude towards the club and its fans.
“I have chosen to resign due to a personal development. I had previously informed the Chairman, and we deliberated and concluded that it would be best for the club to find someone fully dedicated to the role,” he stated.
“Although I am stepping down, I will continue to support Kano Pillars and provide guidance when needed.”
He expressed appreciation to the management for the opportunity to serve and acknowledged the club’s supporters for their unwavering support.
“The fans were a significant reason for my accepting the role. Their passion and support were unparalleled. I sincerely thank them,” he remarked.
Club Chairman, Ali Muhammad Umar, praised Abdallah for his dedication and professionalism, stating, “We are grateful to Coach Usman Abdallah for his contributions and wish him success in his future endeavors.”
