Taiwo Awoniyi, the Nigerian striker, has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for August.

The Premier League announced the nominees for the Player of the Month award for August, and Awoniyi was one of six players shortlisted.

The other nominees include:
- Rodri (Manchester City)
- James Maddison (Tottenham)
- Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford)
- Karl Mitoma (Brighton)
- Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United)
Awoniyi had a fantastic opening to the season, scoring in his first three games and also assisting on a fourth. With his help, Nottingham Forest won six points in the first four games of the season.
It was the longest scoring streak by a Forest player since 1995, and he ended it by scoring in eight straight games. This makes him the
third African footballer to reach this milestone.
The winner of the award will be announced on September 15.
Awoniyi's Performances
Awoniyi has been one of
Nottingham Forest's most valuable players in the Premier League because of his stellar play. So far in the league, he has scored four times and assisted on one more.
Awoniyi has also been lethal in the air, winning 2.3% of the aerial duels he has participated in thus far this season.
He has been a reliable contributor to the Forest offense, and his efforts have contributed to the team's strong start to the season.
