The Super Eagles of Nigeria triumphed on Saturday night, defeating Jamaica 5–4 in a penalty shootout to secure the 2025 Unity Cup at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, England.
The intense final ended in a 2–2 draw after regulation time.
Nigeria took the lead early in the 9th minute when Moses Simon scored from just outside the six-yard box.
Jamaica quickly equalized through Kaheim Dixon, who finished a low cross from Cephas following a fantastic run down the left flank.
Samuel Chukwueze put Nigeria back in front with a precise left-footed strike from the edge of the box in the 53rd minute, but Jamaica leveled the score again 11 minutes later, with Jonathan Russell converting another assist from Cephas.
With no winner determined after 90 minutes, the match proceeded to penalties.
Nigeria scored on their first four penalty attempts, with Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Bruno Onyemaechi, and Tolu Arokodare all finding the net.
Jamaica's Atkinson missed their fourth penalty by hitting the bar, giving Nigeria the upper hand.
Uche Chriantus secured the victory with the final penalty, leading the Super Eagles to a 5–4 win in the shootout. This victory marks Nigeria's second Unity Cup title, following their win in the inaugural edition in 2004.
