The Super Eagles of Nigeria have a chance to climb the FIFA rankings and reignite their status as an "attractive brand" with a victory over Mali in Tuesday's international friendly, according to journalist Femi Fabumi.
Fabumi, interviewed by DAILY POST on Monday, emphasized the importance of treating the friendly with a competitive spirit.
"Considering Mali's performance at the recent AFCON, they shouldn't be underestimated," Fabumi said. "They only lost the final to Ivory Coast due to a momentary lapse in concentration."
Fabumi believes a competitive approach from the Super Eagles is crucial: "If they approach the game with the right mindset, it will be a good indicator of their readiness for future challenges."
He added, "A win against Mali will not only improve our FIFA ranking but also help us regain the allure we once possessed as a brand."
The match between Nigeria and Mali will be held at the Grand Stade de Marrakech in Morocco, kicking off at 9 pm local time.
