Oladokun Ayomide, a final-year student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, has been placed under arrest by the Ogun State Police Command on suspicion of poisoning two women: Odumosu Semilore and Ugbokwe Mmasichukwu, his lover.
The police stated that after inviting his girlfriend to his home in the Surulere neighborhood of the Camp neighborhood of the city on Friday, the suspect gave her a poison that was thought to be a mixture of brownie cakes, vodka, and an unidentified toxic chemical.
As she was heading to the suspect's home, Mmasichukwu reportedly asked Semilore, a classmate, to go with her to her boyfriend's house in the Surulere community, Camp, Abeokuta.
After providing them with the allegedly toxic item, our correspondent discovered that the victims were taken to the hospital after they passed out as soon as they consumed the dangerous cake.
A preliminary inquiry by the police found that Ayomide was suspected of intending to injure the victims, albeit the reason for the suspect's activity was still unknown at the time this report was filed.
Olusola Ajibola, the Chief Security Officer of the Federal College of Education, and Osiele Abeokuta led the arrest of the suspect. He informed the police that Ayomide was a final-year student at FUNAAB, while Mmasichukwu and Semilore were students of the college.
When our correspondent contacted Omolola Odutola, the public relations officer, she informed us that the victims were responding to treatment and that an additional investigation was underway to determine the circumstances behind the tragedy.
