Manchester United have finally secured the signing of Sofyan Amrabat on a season-long loan deal from Fiorentina.
United manager Erik ten Hag has been pursuing the Moroccan midfielder as an improvement over
Fred since the latter's £15 million move to Fenerbahce. United and Fiorentina had been in negotiations for some time, and Amrabat had already had some of his medical examination done in Italy before coming to Carrington.
The loan agreement will cost United approximately £10 million, with an option to purchase the player for £21.4 million next summer.

Before the end of the summer transfer window today, Manchester United and Sofyan Amrabat are expected to finalize a loan agreement.
Sofyan Amrabat has a reputation as a player who can take the strain off his team with his dribbling and ball-retention abilities.
Erik Ten Hag and Amrabat
United's manager, Erik Ten Hag, is a huge fan of Amrabat after coaching him at Utrecht in 2017. The Red Devils' manager sees Amrabat as the key to restoring equilibrium, reviving vitality, and infusing innovation into his midfield. He also believes that Amrabat can help his team's defense, which has been shaky at times.
Although Atlético Madrid and Barcelona were also interested in signing Amrabat, he was Ten Hag's main summer transfer target. On the other hand, Amrabat made it quite obvious that he wished to join United and reunite with Ten Hag.

How did the deal happen?
Fiorentina was hesitant to sell their star player, therefore negotiations were lengthy. United were unable to pay the €30 million that was being asked for Amrabat.
The deliberations stretched on for months as both parties sought a satisfactory middle ground.
Amrabat headed for Manchester on a Friday afternoon so he could get a physical and sign his contract. United will assign him the number 8 jersey. After the international break, he will likely make his first appearance.
What does this mean for Manchester United?
Manchester United have done a lot of strengthening of their squad this summer, but the signing of Amrabat is a massive coup. In addition to extending Jonny Evans' contract to 2024,
they have brought in Sergio Reguilón from Tottenham to cover for the injured Malacia and Luke Shaw at left back, as well as Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahçe.

The addition of Amrabat to United's midfield gives the club more tactical freedom. He can either form a double pivot with a group of other midfielders or take his place as a lone pivot. He can also play a more advanced supporting position by linking up with Fernandes and Sancho.
