Sirens Sound As Rockets Launch To Israel From Gaza

POSTED ON October 6, 2023 •   World      BY Segun Adewole •   VIEWS 243
Dozens of rockets were unleashed from the blockaded Gaza Strip towards Israel, creating chaos and sending air raid sirens blaring across the greater Tel Aviv area on Saturday morning. The rocket onslaught commenced at precisely 06:30 AM local time, persisting for nearly thirty minutes, originating from multiple sites within Gaza. The Magen David Adom rescue agency reported grave injuries inflicted upon a 70-year-old woman after a rocket struck a building in southern Israel. In a separate incident, a 20-year-old man sustained moderate injuries due to rocket shrapnel. Within Gaza, residents recounted armed confrontations occurring along the separation fence with Israel, in the vicinity of Khan Younis. There was a conspicuous presence of Palestinian fighters engaged in these clashes, but Israel's military remained reticent, withholding immediate details about the situation. Mohammed Deif, the prominent leader of Hamas' military wing, made a rare public statement announcing the commencement of a new military campaign against Israel, denominated as "Operation Al-Aqsa Storm." In an impassioned call, Deif implored all Palestinians to unite against Israel, declaring, "enough is enough." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office confirmed his intent to convene with top security officials in the coming hours, as the nation grapples with this sudden escalation of hostilities. This rocket barrage follows weeks of mounting tensions along Israel's volatile border with Gaza and persistent clashes in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. To date, the Israeli military has reportedly claimed the lives of approximately 200 Palestinians this year in the West Bank, exacerbating concerns about the deteriorating security situation in the region. Concurrently, Palestinian attacks on Israeli targets have resulted in around 30 casualties, further intensifying apprehensions regarding regional stability.
