Nigerian songstress Simisola Kosoko, professionally known as Simi, stated that she never intended to marry a musician.
The mother of one, who is married to fellow musician Adekunle Gold, stated this on the most recent edition of Tea with Tay, which was posted by media personality Taymesan.
Simi says she had no idea Adekunle was a musician until she met him.
She said, “When I first met my husband, I didn’t know he was singing because I had already said I could not marry a singer. I didn’t know he was singing; I think he was even a fan.”
Simi had stated that even though she didn’t know Adekunle was a musician, they started dating because he “was a really nice guy.”
In an interview with The Beat FM, she revealed that they dated for five years before finally getting married in 2019.
The 35-year-old recounted how they met at one of her concerts and how his “niceness” made her accept dating him months later.
Simi and Adekunle Gold started dating in 2014 and were married in 2019. They have one child together, a daughter named Adejare. Simi said that she is grateful that she decided to give Adekunle Gold a chance. She said that he is the best husband and father she could have ever asked for.
