The Progressives Shareholders Association of Nigeria has strongly criticized the efforts to undermine the reputation of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals, which was established by Aliko Dangote, a leading industrialist in Africa.
The National Coordinator of PSAN, Bisi Bakare, expressed disappointment over allegations from the petroleum regulatory agency regarding the quality of diesel produced by the refinery.
The CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Farouk Ahmed, faced backlash for his comments on the refinery, with calls for his resignation from many Nigerians and the House of Representatives demanding his suspension pending investigations.
In a statement on Wednesday, PSAN commended Dangote for his visionary approach to establishing one of the world’s leading refineries in Nigeria and emphasized his commitment to national development through substantial local investments.
They condemned efforts to discredit the refinery by regulatory bodies, warning that such actions could deter investors and undermine government efforts to stabilize fuel prices and ensure availability.
