SERVICOM Calls for More Ministerial  Committees to  Boost Service Delivery  Initiative

The National Coordinator/CEO of SERVICOM, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli, has called for the creation of additional Ministerial SERVICOM Committees to enhance service delivery efforts across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) nationwide.
 
The SERVICOM boss called during Thursday's inauguration of the Ministerial SERVICOM Committee of the Federal Ministry of Works in Abuja.
 
In a statement signed by Assistant Director Information/ Public Relations in Henrietta Okokon and sighted by Rocketparrot News, the Coordinator stated that the aim of improved service delivery in the Ministry will not be achieved if a robust SERVICOM Committee is not put in place. 
 
The establishment of a SERVICOM Committee presupposes that the entire service delivery activities of the Ministry are to be coordinated by the Committee
 
According to her, the SERVICOM Committee is a body of SERVICOM Officers from different Departments, Units, and Parastatals of the Ministry. Who network to build relationships to acquire and disseminate information towards citizens focused service delivery in the Ministry.
 
She highlighted the role of Members of the Ministerial SERVICOM Committee as Spearheading the Ministry’s service improvement programmes in accordance with best practice e.g. periodic monitoring and evaluation of project.
 
" Producing and reviewing service charters for the Ministry, its diverse service frontlines, and monitoring its implementation by reporting quarterly on the impact of service delivery activities in the Ministry.
 
Providing a comprehensive and effective training policy for Frontline Staff, e. g., customer care training, instituting a Complaints Procedure for the Ministry, she added.
 
She proffered the next steps forward for the Ministry to adopt, such as the already developed service charter, which should be reviewed with best practice and made available to all clients, including customers and Stakeholders, using the website.
 
She added that the Ministry should institute a reward system to recognize staff who excel at the delivery of services to customers, e.g., monthly/quarterly/annual best departmental staff recognition.
 
She said furthermore, regular training and re-training of staff on all aspects of service delivery to equip them with pre-requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes is key.
 
She also appealed for the prominence of SERVICOM news/stories in the Ministry’s publications.
 
The Permanent Secretary Federal of Works, Dr. Yakubu Kofarmatar, represented by the Director of Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement, Mrs C. N. Ibekwe, said that the Charter launch became necessary following the de-merging of the Ministry from the Housing sector.
 
He admonished members of the Ministerial SERVICOM Committee of the Ministry not to lose sight of the purpose of establishing the Committee in the Ministry, which is to identify service failure and gaps and proffers improvements.
 
"This inauguration meeting would equip you with the requisite knowledge and technical know-how to assume your role as a member of the MSC. he stated
 
He encouraged the MSC members to do their utmost best and become reform champions for the Ministry.
