Senate President Urges Nigerians To Remain Hopeful Amidst Challenges During Christmas

POSTED ON December 24, 2023 •   Politics      BY Oluwakemi Ademuyiwa •   VIEWS 54

In a special Christmas message, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians to maintain hope and steadfastness despite the challenging times the nation is currently facing.

Senator Akpabio expressed confidence that the difficulties experienced by Nigerians due to socio-economic upheavals will lead to positive outcomes through the visionary development plans of the current national leadership.

In the Christmas message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Senator Akpabio urged Christian faithful to pray and be hopeful, drawing inspiration from the birth of Jesus Christ, whom he described as a symbol of hope, love, and redemption. He emphasized the belief that Nigeria will overcome its present challenges.

"On behalf of my family and constituents, the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and indeed the entire National Assembly, I wish to sincerely congratulate all our Christian brothers and sisters on the celebration of the feast of Christmas, which marks the birth of Jesus Christ," Senator Akpabio conveyed.

He urged the celebrants not only to rejoice but also to continue praying for the country and its leaders. Senator Akpabio encouraged citizens to exhibit love, reflect on the life of Jesus Christ, and draw inspiration from his qualities of humility, sacrifice, love for neighbors, and loyalty to God and constituted authority.

Akpabio assured Nigerians not to lose faith in their leaders, particularly emphasizing support for President Bola Tinubu's administration. He expressed confidence that, with the collective support of all Nigerians, the current administration will address the challenges facing the nation and bring relief to its citizens.

"In this season of joy, may Jesus’ birth resonate within us all, guiding our thoughts, our words, and our actions. May His hope re-ignite our spirits, encouraging us to spread love and kindness to those around us," Senator Akpabio remarked.

He emphasized that amidst the festive cheer, it is crucial to remember the true reason for the season—the birth of Jesus Christ. Acknowledging the world's uncertainties, strife, and challenges, Senator Akpabio highlighted Jesus as a beacon of hope, offering solace and assurance to all who seek Him.
